The recipients of the 27th PRAEMIUM IMPERIALE

On Thursday, September 10, the names of the 5 new Praemium Imperiale Laureates were announced in Berlin, Rome, New York, London, Paris and Tokyo. The 5 recipients are as follows:

 

Tadanori Yokoo                Painting

Wolfgang Laib                 Sculpture

Dominique Perrault         Architecture

Mitsuko Uchida                Music

Sylvie Guillem                  Theatre/Film

 

The artists are recognized and awarded for their achievements, for the impact they have had internationally on the arts, and for their role in enriching the global community. Each laureate receives an honorarium of 15 million yen and a testimonial letter. A medal will be presented by Honorary Patron of the Japan Art Association Prince Hitachi in an awards ceremony held in Tokyo on October 21, 2015.

 

There will be commemorative lectures by Dominique Perrault at 16:00 on October 22, by Tadanori Yokoo at 13:30 on October 23.

 

The Grant for Young Artists was announced on September 10 in Berlin, and 2015 recipient of the Grant is the Yangon Film School (Myanmar / Headquarters: Berlin, Germany). The Yangon Film School will receive 5 million yen to assist their efforts to help young filmmakers.
