The Laureates of the 37th PRAEMIUM IMPERIALE
On Tuesday, September 8, the 2026 Praemium Imperiale Laureates were announced in Paris, Rome, Berlin, New York, London, and Tokyo.
The Laureates are as follows:

These artists are recognized for their outstanding achievements in the arts and their contributions to enriching the global community. Each Laureate will receive an honorarium of 15 million yen and a testimonial letter. Prince Hitachi, Honorary Patron of the Japan Art Association, will present each Laureate with a medal at the Awards Ceremony, which will be held in Tokyo on October 28, 2026.
The related events for media coverage are as follows:
On October 27, at 13:30, a Joint Press Conference with the Laureates and the International Advisors will be held at The Okura Tokyo, followed by Individual Press Meetings with each Laureate. The Awards Ceremony will take place on October 28 at the Meiji Kinenkan in Tokyo. A Commemorative Architecture Lecture by Daniel Libeskind will be held on October 29 at 16:00.
The Recipient of the 2026 Grant for Young Artists was announced at a Press Conference in Paris. This year, La Source Garouste (France) has been selected to receive the grant. At the Press Conference, La Source Garouste was presented with 5 million yen in recognition of its outstanding contribution to nurturing and promoting young talent through the arts.
